Mr. Bal Krishna G Tonde, a 70 year old Mumbai collector and eBay India seller has listed an extremely rare document, bearing the signature of the former royalty of Hyderabad — the late Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, Nizam VII of Hyderabad on the eBay India website (http://www.ebay.in). eBay India, India’s leading online marketplace has recently seen an increase in the number of items of historical significance listed on the site, much to the delight of enthusiasts of Indian history.
According to Mr. Tonde, the document — with the emblem on the letterhead belongs to the last Nizam of Hyderabad who ruled during the period — 1911 – 1948. Interestingly, as Mr. Tonde recounts, the document was sourced from scrap dealers and was to go to a paper mill to be shredded for recycling of paper where it was found by a philatelic dealer. It was then sold to a dealer in Rajasthan and later bought by Mr. Tonde’s son in law making it a truly rare piece that has traveled through the decades.
Says Mr. Tonde, “I am extremely passionate about my hobby and thankful that eBay has given me the opportunity to convert my hobby into a career. I am proud to say that by trading on eBay, I earn three times the amount that I get from the railways as pension per month.”
Mr. B G Tonde has philatelic experience of around 30 years. His grandfather was a railway guard during the British period and so he has many precious railway-related documents. His other passion is collecting vintage newspapers carrying news articles of significant moments of history.

We not only want to promote sustainability, but we want to be leaders in our industry and continue to learn and implement programs in our stadium that will help eliminate waste.”
During the Goin’ Green promotion, the Storm will also ask local chambers of commerce to collect information regarding local businesses that are currently planning and promoting healthy solutions and conservation programs. The health and sustainability festival will be full of music, arts and crafts, and caring businesses that promote healthy lifestyles and sustainability. Groups representing organic foods and drink, solar power, hybrid and electric cars, alternative medicine etc. are invited to participate in the festivities.

Chevrolet drivers currently scheduled to race RC cars for the event are Casey Mears, Clint Bowyer, JJ Yeley, Kyle Busch, Ward Burton, Richard Childress, Kenny Wallace, Jeff Burton, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Regan Smith. Races featuring these drivers will take place between 9 a.m. and noon on July 27 in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s infield Flag Lot, adjacent to the Bombardier Learjet Pagoda Plaza. A complete schedule of Chevy Day at the Brickyard driver appearances will be available at the event. Drivers will compete with 1/10th scale Team Associated TC4 electric powered racing sedans. After each race, drivers will autograph their RC cars for an online auction to benefit Victory Junction Gang Camp.
Fans are invited to get in on the radio control racing fun themselves in between and after driver appearances. RC Driver’s editors and representatives from RC car manufacturers Team Associated and Thunder Tiger will be on hand in the Flag Lot with RC cars for everyone to try. RC car test drive sessions will take place between driver appearances and from noon until 3:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. For RC Driver, the aim is to showcase the fun and versatility of the radio control car hobby for race fans, hopefully inspiring an ongoing interest in RC cars and trucks.

The Lisa Lopes Foundation (LLF) was started in 2005 by Lisa’s mother, Wanda Lopes-Colemon, her brother, Ronald Lopes, and family friend Anashay Murphy. The Foundation was inspired by Lisa’s dream of building a children’s home on some land she purchased in Honduras. Shortly after revealing her plans to her family, Lisa passed away in an auto accident in Honduras. The family did not have the financial means to make Lisa’s dream come true, so they established the Lisa Lopes Foundation to bring her dream to fruition. 4 years later they opened up Lisa’s Hogar De Amor (Home of Love) – a 10,000 sq. ft. residential facility with a dental clinic and classroom for the kids. Presently there are 20 orphaned children living there, with an additional 20 attending class there. Many of the children who live there have lost there parents to HIV and/or have been victims of sexual and physical abuse. The ages of the kids range from 2 – 15 years old. The goal of Lisa’s Hogar De Amor is to provide a safe and loving environment for the children, as well as providing free education, and healthcare. There are also plans to start enrichment programs to teach them to be self sufficient and career oriented. Future goals of LLF include building a larger school and medical clinic outside of the Hogar – an organic garden, a volunteer house, and a play area.
LLF also works with teens from low income communities in Georgia. They go through a five-step program: Cultural Arts and Awareness, Healthy Lifestyles, Financial Literacy, Career development and Civic and Social responsibility. The program is designed to give these teens a step up in this competitive world and an increasing sense of self worth.

She wanted to be able to offer immediate and needed financial assistance to the post-Hurricane Irene efforts of the Outer Banks Community Foundation (OBCF). The foundation was created in October of 1992 as a public charity to meet local needs on the Outer Banks, not ordinarily within the province of other charitable organizations, religious institutions or government.
Through quickly appealing to her guests, the magic of the Village Realty Web Services Team and Facebook technology Sarah offered a Two Night Stay/Gift Certificate at the beautiful First Colony Inn to the first ten people who donated $ 100.00 to the fundraiser. She figured a $ 1,000 donation would be pretty nice! Because so many people who cherish visiting the Outer Banks so wanted to help, the donations poured in immediately from twenty one generous guests to raising a whopping $ 2,300 total. There was simply no way to distinguish which ten were the quickest as some donations came by mail, some in person, some via credit card…so all of the participants received a gift certificate. It was a a win, win, win!
In this spirit of generosity, Sarah didn’t just limit her altruism to the human victims of Irene. Her good friend and colleague, Durinda Blevins, Marketing Coordinator for Village Realty*, was busily organizing a Facebook Auction to raise funds for the Outer Banks SPCA, a local division of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They needed a ‘pet friendly’ grand prize for the winner of the auction. Just so happens Sarah owns a cute little three bedroom pet-friendly rental cottage in Kill Devil Hills called “Avalon Limin” She offered up her cottage to the highest bidder for the week of September 17-23, 2011. This auction netted $ 650 for the Outer Banks SPCA.
Sarah Close relocated to the Outer Banks from St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands two years ago. When she first moved back to the mainland to be closer to her family she drove along the east coast, knowing she would settle by the sea, but it was only when she discovered the Outer Banks that she knew she found her new home. She absolutely loves living here and was delighted to accept the position of General Manager/Innkeeper at First Colony Inn in January, 2010.
